Kingsnake eating Copperhead

6 Jul

Watch as “King” the Eastern Kingsnake eats a Northern Copperhead that was freshly killed on the road.

Kingsnakes are predators on other snakes and are resistant to the venom of pit vipers such as the Copperhead and rattlesnake.

I had the privilege of witnessing this in person (I even heard myself in the video!). It was pretty cool and, as always, Steve was incredibly informative the during the entire scene.

Thanks, Steve, for allowing us that had the fortune to be there the opportunity to see nature in action, and for posting the video.
